They can't be changed or revoked, carry one login each, and must be enabled by your admin.\n- **Add CredenShare** for handoffs that need longer windows or a first-open clock, an access log, a passcode, or a Secure Request to collect credentials.\n\n*Who this page is for: Dashlane customers who hand credentials to contractors, clients or vendors.*\n\n## What problem does each tool solve?\n\n**Dashlane** is a password manager focused on businesses: an encrypted vault with Shared Collections, SAML-based Confidential SSO and SCIM on its Password Management plan, activity logs with SIEM integrations, and a CLI that injects secrets into environment variables. It ended its free plan in September 2025.\n\n**CredenShare** is built for the handoff: an encrypted link that expires, a record of every view, and Secure Requests to collect credentials.\n\n## How does Dashlane share with people outside?\n\nSince March 2026, Dashlane can share a login with someone who doesn't use Dashlane through a link. On Dashlane's pages:\n\n- **No account needed**, and the link is encrypted on the sender's device, with the key in the URL fragment.\n- **One view or 24 hours, whichever comes first.** Neither can be changed, and a sent link **can't be revoked**.\n- **One login per link**, created in the **web app**, and your business must **enable** outside sharing.\n\nThat strictness is a good default for same-day handoffs. It doesn't fit a contractor who starts next week, a vendor in another time zone, or a client who needs to send **you** a credential.\n\n## What does CredenShare add?\n\n### Collecting credentials from outside\n\n[Secure Requests](/solutions/secure-requests) (Business and Enterprise) send someone a form with the fields you choose. Their browser encrypts each answer to a key belonging to the request before it's sent. You can require them to sign in with two-factor authentication, and reuse field templates.\n\n### A record of every handoff\n\nEach CredenShare share logs the time and IP address of every view, kept for 3 to 180 days depending on the plan (not on Free). Dashlane's activity logs cover your organization; CredenShare's log covers each link after it left.\n\n### Links on the recipient's schedule\n\nExpiry from **1 hour to 3 months**, optionally counted from the **first open**, with view limits, passcodes (Solo and above, with a failed-attempt limit), required sign-in, and IP allowlists (Business and Enterprise).\n\n### Where your team already works\n\nA **Slack** app (Plus and above), a **browser extension** for Chrome and Firefox, and a **REST API, SDKs for Node, Python, Go and Rust, an MCP server** for AI agents, and **webhooks** (Business and Enterprise). None of this replaces Dashlane: it sits at the edge of it.\n\n## CredenShare and Dashlane side by side\n\n| | CredenShare | Dashlane |\n|---|---|---|\n| **Built for** | Sending and collecting credentials through expiring encrypted links | Business password management |\n| **Everyday password storage** | No | Yes |\n| **Share with someone without an account** | Yes | Yes, if your admin enables it |\n| **Link lifetime** | 1 hour to 3 months, optionally from the first open | One view or 24 hours, fixed |\n| **Revoke a sent link** | Yes | No |\n| **Passcode** | Yes (Solo and above) | Not described |\n| **Access log per share** | Views, times and IP addresses, 3–180 days by plan | Not described per link |\n| **Collect a credential from outside** | Secure Requests (Business and Enterprise) | Not found on its pages |\n| **Free plan** | Yes: 3 shares a day | Ended September 2025 |\n| **Price** | Paid plans from $9.99/month | Password Management $8/user/month (Dashlane blog, billed annually) |\n\n*Dashlane details checked on October 23, 2026 against its own pages; see the sources below.*\n\n## What can each company's servers see?\n\n- **Dashlane** encrypts with AES256-CBC-HMAC and derives keys with Argon2d, stating that \"Dashlane can never view or access user credentials\". Its share links are encrypted on the sender's device, with the key in the link.\n\n- **CredenShare:** Shares made in the web app, through the API or with the SDKs are encrypted in your browser or client with AES-256-GCM, using a key made for that share alone; the key travels in the part of the link after the `#`, which browsers don't send to servers. Shares created from Slack are the exception: they're encrypted on our servers. Secure Request answers are encrypted in the submitter's browser.\n\n## Which tool should you use for each handoff?\n\n| Situation | Use | Why |\n|---|---|---|\n| A colleague needs a login | Dashlane | Shared Collections with permissions. |\n| A same-day, one-view handoff | Dashlane link | Strict by default: one view or 24 hours. |\n| A contractor starts next Monday | CredenShare | A link that starts counting at the first open. |\n| You need to know a vendor opened it | CredenShare | Time and IP address of every view. |\n| A client must send you a login | CredenShare | A Secure Request. |\n| You sent a link to the wrong person | CredenShare | Revoke or expire it immediately. |\n\n## How do teams use Dashlane and CredenShare together?\n\n1. **Store** credentials in Dashlane, and share inside with Shared Collections.\n2. **Use a Dashlane link** for quick, same-day, one-view handoffs.\n3. **Use CredenShare** when the handoff needs more time, a passcode, a record, or revoking.\n4. **Use a Secure Request** to collect a credential, then save it into Dashlane.\n\n## What does it cost to use both?\n\nDashlane lists **Password Management** at $8 per user per month, billed annually, on its own blog (the same post also shows $4 in one table, so confirm with Dashlane). For 10 users that's about **$80 a month**.\n\n**CredenShare**: **Free** covers 3 shares a day. **Plus** ($49.99 a month, or $499.99 a year) includes 5 seats, teams and Slack. **Business** ($99.99 a month, or $999.99 a year) adds Secure Requests, the API and IP allowlists. See [pricing](/pricing). Only people who create shares and requests need a seat.\n\n## When is Dashlane alone enough?\n\n- Every outside handoff is same-day and one-view.\n- You never need to revoke a link, or prove it was opened.\n- You never collect credentials from people outside.\n\n## Before you share a credential: a checklist\n\nThese apply whichever tool you use.\n\n1. **Send the link and the passcode through different channels.** For example, the link by email and the passcode by text message.\n2. **Watch out for link scanners.** Some email security filters and chat apps open links automatically, which can use up a one-view link. Send the link as plain text through a channel that doesn't pre-open links, or allow a second view with a short expiry.\n3. **Don't open the link to test it.** On a one-view link, your test is the view.\n4. **Pick the shortest expiry that works.** If you don't know when the recipient will act, a link that starts counting at the first open is safer than a long fixed window.\n5. **Rotate after the handoff when you can.** The link expires, but the credential is still valid.\n6. **Keep the original in your password manager.** A sharing link is a delivery method, not storage.\n\n## Verdict\n\nDashlane's links are deliberately strict, which is right for many handoffs. CredenShare covers the rest: longer or first-open windows, revoking, a record of every view, and credentials coming back to you.\n\n**Related:** [1Password vs Dashlane](/compare/1password-vs-dashlane) · [CredenShare vs 1Password](/compare/1password) · [All comparisons](/compare)\n\n---\n\n**Sources** (checked October 23, 2026):\n\n- **Dashlane:** [link sharing](https://www.dashlane.com/blog/link-sharing), [security](https://www.dashlane.com/security), [blog (pricing)](https://www.dashlane.com/blog/is-dashlane-worth-it), [free plan ending](https://www.dashlane.com/blog/dashlane-free-ending), [pricing](https://www.dashlane.com/pricing)\n- **CredenShare:** [encryption](https://docs.credenshare.io/security/encryption), [plans and limits](https://docs.credenshare.io/account/plans-and-limits)\n\n*Dashlane is a trademark of its owner.
